Avocatul fostul judecător ucrainean Nicolai Ceaus, răpit la Chișinău, Rostislav Kraveț, menționează că imaginile video în care apare ex-magistratul „sunt o înscenare” și „au fost făcute sub presiune”. El este controlat de anumite persoane și, cel mai probabil, povestea implicării Serviciilor Speciale Ucrainene în răpirea sa din R. Moldova este confirmată. Mai degrabă, el nu a fost răpit din R. Moldova, ci răpit în 2016, când a fost scos din Ucraina. Iar acele zece persoane împotriva cărora a fost inițiat un dosar penal în R. Moldova, nu ar fi fost implicate în acest sens. Judecătorul cunoscut pentru faptul că a examinat mai multe dosare cu implicarea participanţilor la Euromaidan, a fost reţinut la Chişinău pe 1 martie 2017.

Reprezentanții Procuraturii pentru Combaterea Criminalității Organizate și Cauze Speciale (PCCOCS) au emis luni, 17 mai, o notă prin care anunță că „imaginile video apărute în spațiul public, care vizează cazul ex-judecătorului ucrainean Nicolai Ceaus, sunt în proces de verificare de către organul de urmărire penală”. Procuratura va reveni cu informații odată ce vor deveni disponibile date cu relevanță de amploare pentru public”, se menționează în nota PCCOCS. În luna martie 2017, magistratul s-a prezentat benevol la Inspectoratul de Poliţie al sectorului Buiucani, declarând că a trecut ilegal frontiera de stat cu R. Moldova, în Ucraina fiind cercetat penal. Procurorii anunță că la 10 mai 2021, procurorii l-au pus sub învinuire pentru asigurarea și organizarea activității grupului de persoane care nemijlocit au realizat răpirea cetățeanului ucrainean. Potrivit legii penale, fapta de care bărbatul reținut este învinuit se pedepsește cu închisoarea pentru un termen de la 6 la 10 ani. Judecătorul cunoscut pentru faptul că a examinat mai multe dosare cu implicarea participanţilor la Euromaidan, a fost reţinut la Chişinău pe 1 martie 2017. Magistratul s-a prezentat benevol la Inspectoratul de Poliţie al sectorului Buiucani, declarând că a trecut ilegal frontiera de stat. La Chișinău acesta a solicitat azil politic, însă 12 octombrie 2017 a primit refuz.
